1. Why do we kill the things we fear and fear the things we kill, while the only thing to fear is fear itself?
I believe we do this because we live in such a complex society, that we don't want to deal with anything that will affect our daily lives. I also think that we have been raised to fear and hate certain things because our elders are afraid of them. Think of all the propaganda that we've been fed by the government, television, and the Internet. Most humans tend to believe almost anything they hear or see, which can increase the number of things that we fear. Tomorrow is going to be the 10th anniversary of 9/11. That day in 2001, four airplanes were hijacked by terrorists, but only three hit their targets. Two hit both the World Trade Center buildings in New York City and another hit a section of the pentagon. The fourth plane crash landed into a field in Pennsylvania. The reason that plane never reached its target is because the people on the plane fought back. Of course they were scared, but they knew that they were going to die. So by putting their fears aside they probably saved many lives even though their own lives were ended. My point that I'm trying to say is that we cannot let fear rule our lives. After 9/11 there became a lot more racism towards Muslims. But people don't realize that not every Muslim is bad. When I went to New York this past summer my friends and I bought gyros from a Muslim vendor and he was very polite to us. And also, no matter what race a person is there will always be good and bad.
My friend Athena- Simple. Fear controls each and every one of us. Fear causes us to react in ways that are unnatural, yet to have no fear would be something dangerous in itself. For to have no fear is to not be alive at all. We kill the things we fear out of self preservation and so as not to lose control when in all truth we should fear fear itself because it is in actuality what controls us all.
My friend Taylor- I think we kill things we fear because we don't know what they are really capable of.
My friend Kayla- I have no idea. Sorry.
My cousin Ricky- The things we fear are different from fear itself because fear stands for False Evidence Appearing Real. So if we kill what we fear then we wouldn't need to fear anything at all.
My friend Molly- It's very logical if that's what you mean.
My friend Bri-Ahhh hard question!
