The question for this week is "If life is so short, why do we do so many things we don't like, while we like so many things we don't do."
My answer- In life we have many choices, but we also have responsibilities. Responsibilities include helping family, doing homework and going to school, work, sports ect. We may not always want to do our responsibilities because they aren't fun or cool, but we do them anyways because it's the right thing. We also have choices. Like choosing to get an education or not, going to work or calling in sick. Maybe we can't always aford the things we like to do, especially in today's economy. I like to swim, and that's not a cheap sport. You have to have a suit($30-$50)goggles($2-$10)cap($5-$10) etc. It adds up fast.
My friend Taylor-I think it is because some people are afraid to do what they really want to do and just go through the motions of life.
My friend Emily-Maybe it has to do with right and wrong, like we really want to go do something illegal and we don't do it, or it could have to do with courage as the comment before mine suggests.
Each week I will post a question or a quote and I will put in my two cents about the question or quote as well as the input of friends and family members. Warning: These will make you think deeply! please comment!

Last week I posted the question, "Why do we kill the things we fear and fear the things we kill, while the only thing to fear is fear itself. You might be wondering why I decided to base my blog on deep thinking questions. Well I think it's interesting to see what other people think and compare it to my own thoughts. It may be the same or very different. Every week there will be a new question with my thoughts and the thoughts of my friends posted below it. If you would like to contribute your thoughts about the question or quote please post it in a comment!
Alright, This weeks deep thinking quote is, "Trying to change ourselves in order to please others-so that we can feel temporarily whole for having won their approval-is like cutting a flower into pieces so that it will fit into a vase." _Guy Finley.
What do you think this means?
I believe that this quote means that you shouldn't try to be something you're not just to fit in with the people around you. You should be yourself no matter how weird you are. You should stand out in a crowd instead of blending in. Basically don't be afraid of what others will or do think about you!
My friend Athena- People admire flowers for their beauty and shape and uniqueness. What the quote is trying to say is that we should admire people for the same qualities, and that we shouldn't try to contort ourselves into something we are not because it destroys the beauty of who each and every one of us are.
My friend Nikki- Yeah I totaly agree. Changing ourselves for someone else is just stupid. We are who we are for a reason and embracing it is the best.
My cousin Ricky- Changing ourselves so we can feel whole is something a lot of people do, but most people do it because they ar self conscious. But if you're like me, you make people accept you the way you are or you just don't hang out with them.
My friend Kayla-I think it means that you have to take away things about you so that you can fit in or fit the part.
My friend Molly- Sounds good. (:
My friend Katie-Okay, so this quote to me means that we shouldn't change ourselves just to make someone happy. If someone doesn't like you for you, then they can just get over it and move on. I believe to make yourself happy, you have to be yourself.

1. Why do we kill the things we fear and fear the things we kill, while the only thing to fear is fear itself?
I believe we do this because we live in such a complex society, that we don't want to deal with anything that will affect our daily lives. I also think that we have been raised to fear and hate certain things because our elders are afraid of them. Think of all the propaganda that we've been fed by the government, television, and the Internet. Most humans tend to believe almost anything they hear or see, which can increase the number of things that we fear. Tomorrow is going to be the 10th anniversary of 9/11. That day in 2001, four airplanes were hijacked by terrorists, but only three hit their targets. Two hit both the World Trade Center buildings in New York City and another hit a section of the pentagon. The fourth plane crash landed into a field in Pennsylvania. The reason that plane never reached its target is because the people on the plane fought back. Of course they were scared, but they knew that they were going to die. So by putting their fears aside they probably saved many lives even though their own lives were ended. My point that I'm trying to say is that we cannot let fear rule our lives. After 9/11 there became a lot more racism towards Muslims. But people don't realize that not every Muslim is bad. When I went to New York this past summer my friends and I bought gyros from a Muslim vendor and he was very polite to us. And also, no matter what race a person is there will always be good and bad.
My friend Athena- Simple. Fear controls each and every one of us. Fear causes us to react in ways that are unnatural, yet to have no fear would be something dangerous in itself. For to have no fear is to not be alive at all. We kill the things we fear out of self preservation and so as not to lose control when in all truth we should fear fear itself because it is in actuality what controls us all.
My friend Taylor- I think we kill things we fear because we don't know what they are really capable of.
My friend Kayla- I have no idea. Sorry.
My cousin Ricky- The things we fear are different from fear itself because fear stands for False Evidence Appearing Real. So if we kill what we fear then we wouldn't need to fear anything at all.
My friend Molly- It's very logical if that's what you mean.
My friend Bri-Ahhh hard question!
